Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital Sangrur – A new ray of hope for patients with cancer in North India

The Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital (A unit of the Tata Memorial Centre in Mumbai) in Sangrur, Punjab stands out as a beacon of hope for the thousands of people in dire need of super-specialty Cancer care in Punjab and nearby States. The Hospital was built over concerns regarding the high incidence of cancer in the state, especially in south Punjab.

It is one of those few hospitals in India where a patient gets unmatched treatment, provided by a dedicated team of highly qualified medical professionals at a highly subsidized rate. The hospital which began with just 30 beds, has now grown big to serve thousands of patients from Punjab and across States. This Hospital established with State Governments support has strengthened the health care facilities and infrastructure in and around Punjab by delivering quality and affordable healthcare to people.

The Hospital has been also empanelled under the Ayushman Bharat Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana, which will help cancer patients avail free treatment up to ₹5 lakh. Patients with domicile of Punjab will benefit from the scheme. Work has been going on for a long time to provide relief to the patients suffering from chronic diseases like cancer and we are committed to further strengthening the health institutions to make Sangrur constituency and Punjab cancer-free.

More than 90 percent of the patients treated at Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital are being treated free of cost, and chemotherapy drugs,  medicines, and surgical treatments are also being provided at up to 70% discount given on price at the hospital to provide treatment facility to the cancer victims at very limited rates.  In addition to this, special discounts for treatment on behalf of Tata Hospital and cashless treatment up to Rs.  1.5 lakh under the Maukh Mantri Cancer Rahat Kosh Yojna is also being given. In the last 5 years, more than 26,000 patients have been treated here.

Recently, a Radiology block with advanced technology (constructed at Rs. 12 crores) was inaugurated at the Hospital. An advanced PET-CT machine is also being installed in the cancer hospital for the treatment of patients. The hospital has been proving to be a boon for the treatment of cancer patients not only from Sangrur but also from Punjab and as well as from other states. It will be our continuous endeavor to ensure quality healthcare for the poor and lower-income groups and to create a healthy Punjab where everyone has access to quality healthcare.
