The BJP-SAD government came under fire from the leaders of the Panjab Youth Congress (PYC) for not providing cheap atta and dal to the people of Punjab. Accusing the state government of deceiving the people and usuring power on the basis of false promises, the PYC, led by its chief Vijay Inder Singla, sought its dismissal.
